About Art Image Direct
We are a new picture library for East Anglia covering both
new photo graphs and new paintings by East Anglian photographers
and artists, together with an archive collection of 19th and
20th century photographs and an art collection spanning 300 years.
The Image library will updated with new images regularly.
The idea of setting up a picture library was first considered
by Mike Hicks around four years ago. We made contact with Lady
Bridgeman of The Bridgeman Library and received from her some
inspirational advice. It has taken since then to get the concept
together of a picture library that is a little different.
We have a nucleus of old water-colour and oil painting images
acquired by Mr Hicks over his 30 years within the East Anglian
art and antique trade. To this we have added known private
collections of drawings and paintings. In addition, we have
a portfolio of 19th century photographs dealing with work,
leisure and life in general. It is our aim to add to these,
modern paintings, drawings and photographs in all of the 12
categories that will feature on the library website.
What is different about our library is that we shall, wherever
possible in all 12 categories within the website, show a percentage
of images that reflect East Anglia and our representative collection
will span some four centuries.
This part of the country inspired great artists like Munnings,
Crome, Cotman, Seago, Constable, plus many hundreds of others.
We cannot guarantee a modern Munnings or Constable but we represent,
through very careful selection, a range of artists and photographers
whose talent has yet to be appreciated. We hope, through our
library, they will receive the recognition they deserve. |
